Hello, I’m Makayla.
I’m glad to have you here. My approach is rooted in compassion, empathy, and unwavering support for my clients. I create a safe space where individuals freely express themselves and explore their emotions without fear of criticism or shame. I am an anti-racist, anti-sexist, and LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist.
I’m not the kind of therapist who just nods and takes notes. I show up as a real person-curious, compassionate, and grounded in the belief that healing happens through authentic connection. I offer a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can be honest, feel your feelings, and explore what it means to live more fully in your truth.
I'm especially passionate about supporting those who’ve had to navigate the world in ways that didn’t always feel. I practice with a justice-oriented, somatic, and client-centered lens, creating space for you to reconnect with yourself in ways that feel safe, empowering, and real.
I work well with deep feelers, overthinkers, identity explorers, and those who are ready to reconnect with themselves after years of disconnection or self-silencing. Therapy with me can include sitting with hard emotions, unlearning old narratives, and giving yourself permission to try, feel, and just be human.
More about me…
My path to becoming a therapist was shaped by my own experiences of healing and growth. I know what it feels like to be stuck and unsure of how to move forward, and I’m passionate about helping others navigate their own journeys.
I hold a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Chapman University and am trained in EMDR, a powerful tool for trauma healing. After years of working in various settings, I’m now proud to have my own private practice, where I focus on creating a safe, supportive space for clients to reconnect with themselves.
Outside of therapy, you’ll likely find me roller skating at the rink or by the beach, spending time with my two cats and dog, or hanging out in a cozy coffee shop with a good book. I believe in taking time for life’s small pleasures. I bring that same approach into my therapy work, offering a space where you can be yourself and take the time you need to heal.

No, I do not accept insurance, I am considered an out of network provider. I can, however, provide clients with a Superbill that they can submit to their insurance for reimbursement. It is not guaranteed if or how much an insurance company will reimburse; I always encourage potential clients to contact their insurance company before starting therapy with an out of network provider so they have a clear expectation around the financial requirement.
